A True Blessing
Working with Steve Meyer of Reaching Higher Ministries has been a true blessing to me. But what is meant by the phrase “true blessing” requires some explanation, because it does not mean that the experience has been a walk in the park.
Steve makes it clear that he is not in ministry simply to help people feel better about themselves or to gloss over the difficult problems of life with general platitudes and popular sayings. Rather, Steve asks challenging questions, digs down to the root of problems and issues, and says what needs to be said, all in truth and love. He applies God’s Word to all situations, whether God’s Word is soothing and uplifting at that moment, or whether it is convicting and uncomfortable.
But no matter what, God’s Word is always right, and it is always what I need to either put me back on track, or to encourage me to keep going in the right direction.
Steve seeks to understand each situation and each person as best he can, which is both productive and encouraging. To actually be understood is so critically important, and to be understood by someone who truly cares and wants to honor God by helping people is even better.
My purpose in writing these words about Steve is not to place him on any kind of pedestal, but rather to shine a spotlight on the fact that this is a ministry that proclaims and holds fast to God’s word, and as a result, hearts and homes are healed. People truly matter to Steve, and I am one of those people. To me, this ministry has been a true blessing, and for that I am so very grateful.
