Who Is Our Creator and Cornerstone?
“For it stands in Scripture: ‘Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and whoever believes in Him will not be put to shame.’ So the honor is for you who believe, but for those who do not believe, ‘The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,’ and ‘a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense.’ They stumble because they disobey the Word.” (1 Pet 2:6-8)
Are you disobedient to the Word of God and reject the One “who laid [the earth’s] cornerstone—while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy” (Job 38:6-7)? Or do you believe that “God has spoken to us by His Son…through whom He created the world” (Heb 1:2)? “For by [Christ] all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him” (Col 1:16).
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us…All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being…” (John 1:1,14,3). Listen, “By the Word of the LORD the heavens were made” (Psa 33:6). Also, “By faith we understand that the world was prepared by the Word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible” (Heb 11:3). “But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s Word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water” (2 Pet 3:5). It is plain to see; the Word is Jesus Christ who created the heavens and the earth in the beginning (Gen 1:1)!!!
Don’t be like Agur (a Proverb writer) who said, “Surely I am too stupid to be a man. I have not the understanding of a man. I have not learned wisdom, nor have I knowledge of the Holy One. Who has ascended to Heaven and come down? Who has gathered the wind in his fists? Who has wrapped up the waters in a garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name, and what is His Son’s name? Surely you know! Every word of God proves true; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him” (Prov 30:2-5). Truth is, according to Psalm 118, verse 22, “The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.” Instead of being ignorant of who is and laid the earth’s cornerstone, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened” (Matt 7:7-8). Seek God’s truth with an open heart and mind. Your questions (maybe the same as Agur’s) will be answered and the name of God’s Son who laid the cornerstone will be revealed to you…the Creator of the world: Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord!!!
