Encouraging Truths Devotional Series (Day #6)
You are holy and blameless … dressed in Divine righteousness (Eph 1:4)
For He chose us in Him, before the foundation of the world, to be holy and blameless in His sight. (Eph 1:4)
God choose you to be holy and blameless but what exactly does that mean? Well, it means that you have been cleansed and set apart by God and for Him:
But now He has reconciled you by His physical body through His death, to present you holy, faultless, and blameless before Him (Col 1:22 – underline added)
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless. (Eph 5:25-27 – NASB – underline added)
By this will of God, we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once and for all … For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are sanctified. (Heb 10:10, 14 – underline added)
It is as if you’ve been given pristinely clean white clothes that are perfectly ironed:
Now Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes as he stood before the angel. The angel said to those who were standing before him, “Take off his filthy clothes.” Then he said to Joshua, “See, I have taken away your sin, and I will put fine garments on you.” (Zec 3:4)
Not only are you clean and set apart by God but the Almighty has put His righteousness on you!
He made the One who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (2 Cor 5:21)
you put on the new self, the one created according to God’s likeness in righteousness and purity of the truth.(Eph 4:24)
and be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own from the law, but one that is through faith in Christ—the righteousness from God based on faith. (Php 3:9)
But it is from Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became God-given wisdom for us—our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption … (1 Cor 1:30)
I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvationand arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. (Isa 61:10 – underline and italics added)
You are so holy and blameless that you are are clothed in God’s Divine righteousness!!
You are so holy and blameless in His sight that you will stand before Him in His full glory and holiness and survive!
Moses couldn’t see God in His full glory:
But He answered, “You cannot see My face, for no one can see Me and live.” (Ex 33:20)
Isaiah feared dying when he saw God and only survived because God granted it so:
Then I (Isaiah) said: Woe is me for I am ruined because I am a man of unclean lips and live among a people of unclean lips, and because my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of Hosts. (Isa 6:5)
Even the seraphim who proclaim God’s holiness in Heaven cover their eyes when they honor Him:
Seraphim were standing above Him; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called to another: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Hosts; His glory fills the whole earth. (Isa 6:2-3)
Amazingly, you will see Him face-to-face in His holiness because you are clothed in God’s Divine Righteousness!
Meditate on these wonderful truths. This should drive any Christ-follower to be worshipful, in awe and extremely thankful to Him for what He has done for you.
